Please join us at the February club meeting. Al, WX4BCW, will do a presentation on the National Weather Service Skywarn program. This subject has been of interest to several club members who have not had the opportunity to get involved and Al will educate us on what to expect and how to take part. Local Skywarn groups, as many of you already know, report their observations to the National Weather Service with location and detail of severe weather events via amateur radio and other reporting tools including the Internet. Since in many cases Doppler radar cannot pick up activity at the ground level the National Weather Service relies on these reports to keep them abreast of what is actually happening on the ground - "the ground truth"! Skywarn has proven to be a life saving service that we can provide to our communities during severe weather events.
Our severe weather season is fast approaching, don't miss this opportunity!
